Jiuzhaigou Valley@

Jiuzhaigou Valley is  located 440 km north of Chengdu that is capital city of Sichuan Province.

Jiuzhaigou Valley derives its name from the 9 Tibetan hamlets or 9 ancient Tibetan villages scattered throughout the gully characterized by high mountains, deep lakes, and carbonate barrier landforms. Its attraction lies in its simple, idyllic beauty; a fairyland, primitive and natural and still in its pristine state. The main scenic area is some 80km long and in the form of letter Y.  Its highest part is 4700 m above sea level at the end of the valley and the sight-seeing area is between 1980 to 3000 m above the sea.  The average temperature of the coldest month is 2.5 degree centigrade, and that for the hottest month is 17 degree centigrade.  So it is suitable for tour all the year round.

It is famous all over the world as the Dreamland and the Fairyland, its emerald green lakes, terraced waterfalls, rainbow-hued woods, snow-capped peaks and Tibetan folklores are often fondly referred to as the 5 Souls of Jiuzhaigou Valley.  More than 100 lakes, with diversified and beautiful shapes, are integrated by marvelous springs, waterfalls and fiords.

Here, water flows among trees and trees thrive in water.  Such fascinating scenery is described as China's Second-to-none Scenic Waters and No need to see any other water on your return from Jiuzhaigou Valley.  Also the water is so clear, it is often said that you can see bird flying in the bottom of the water and fish swimming in the sky.

In the national appraisal of "forty best scenic areas" in 1990, it came out at the top of the new natural scenic areas.  In 1992, Jiuzahigou Valley was inscribed on the list of "World Natural Heritages" by UNESCO, 1997 listed in the "World Reserve of  Biosphere".
